What is a Student Visa?
A student visa is a type of nonimmigrant visa that allows the bearer to enroll at a postsecondary educational institution in the host country. High school foreign exchange students must typically obtain a visa for temporary residence. Any prospective student seeking higher education in another country must obtain a student visa from that country.

You can work full time during term time if you have a student visa, but only 20 hours of work per week during term time. In addition to their studies, students completing a Master’s by Research or Ph.D. may work full-time throughout their studies.
